Photography in Randers Old Town and Along the Gudenå

Randers is one of Denmark's oldest market towns and one of the most textured backdrops in Jutland. A tightly preserved medieval street grid of cobbles and tall half-timbered houses runs through the centre, anchored by the cathedral-like silhouette of Sankt Mortens Kirke and the Gudenå river valley on the town's edge. Houmeden, billed as Denmark's oldest pedestrian street, and the merchant houses around Rådhustorvet give the kind of architectural detail that works in any light and any season.

I travel to Randers for weddings, couples shoots and family sessions across the area. Clausholm Slot, a baroque castle about 12 km southeast with a park of allées and fountains and a castle church for ceremonies, is the standout venue for couples wanting something grand. For a more central option, Hotel Randers handles banquet facilities in the heart of the old town. Outdoors, the Gudenå riverside and Den Blå Bro give open river and nature on the town's green edge, a different register from the tight cobbled streets a few minutes away.

Randers is the furthest north I cover on the E45 corridor -- Aarhus is 40 minutes south and Horsens is on the way back to Kolding. Get in touch and let's figure out the details.
